In a world where there is a fast-rising of automated appliances that proves to make life easier, the world of robotics has proved to solve many of man’s problems. Over the years, the use of manual vacuum cleaners has been strenuous yet rampant amongst individuals. Most people have failed to acknowledge the move but it approaches us like a whirlwind that cannot be stopped anytime soon. In the world of cleaning where a normal vacuum cleaner is noisy and bulky for everyday use; it is still required that humans manually handle it despite their busy schedules. This paper proposes to develop an Arduino based robotic vacuum cleaner that can clean surfaces on its own without the assistance of a human. It is designed such in a way that knock sensors and distance sensors are embedded in it in order to maneuver its way around obstacles while cleaning the room. The robot is going to be relevant in mainly homes.
